“Shelfie” playfully combines “selfie” and “shelf,” as in a collection of books on a shelf.

This is food writer Helen Graves in a recent issue of the newsletter Shelfies:

“It’s the cosiest, most comforting feeling, being surrounded by all these little worlds, although I expect many people would see this as mess.”
Helen Graves’ Shelfie

That, to me, is the whole appeal of Shelfies. Helen's shelfie shows you what's there in a way an algorithm or a "best of the best" list never will. I don't know her criteria for choosing a book, but I'm familiar with M.F.K. Fisher's How to Cook a Wolf. So, of course, I'll pore over her meaningful mess of books.
